The larger of our two scalp applicators, for people treating a wide area who are tired of stopping to refill a dropper three times per application.

You fill it once, place the tip against your scalp and glide it across the area while pressing gently. The lotion goes onto the skin rather than onto the hair sitting above it, which is where a standard dropper loses most of the dose.

Which of the two you want

  • This 8 ml one if you are treating a large area, such as a whole crown or diffuse thinning across the top, and want to fill once and be done.
  • The 3 ml basic if you are working a hairline, a parting or a defined patch. It is cheaper, and for a small area the extra capacity buys you nothing.

Bigger is not automatically better here. Pick on the size of the area you treat.

Lightweight liquids only

Designed for thin, watery solutions of the kind minoxidil lotions are. Thick or oily liquids will clog the tip. Do not use it as a storage bottle — fill it for each application, then empty and rinse it.

  1. Fill the applicator with your minoxidil lotion, up to 8 ml.
  2. Part your hair to expose the area you are treating.
  3. Place the tip directly against the scalp.
  4. Press gently and glide across the area, keeping contact with the skin.
  5. Work across the whole treatment zone in overlapping passes.
  6. Empty any remainder, rinse the applicator and let it dry.

The larger capacity is not permission to use more. Your dose is whatever your product's leaflet says — usually 1 ml per application. Filling to 8 ml is for convenience across passes, not a bigger dose. Measure rather than estimating by feel.

Three things to avoid:

  • Thick or oily liquids, which clog the tip.
  • Leaving lotion inside between applications.
  • Sharing it, if anyone else in the house uses a different product or strength.

Rinse regularly to keep it flowing freely. Keep out of reach of children. Wash your hands after applying minoxidil.

Does this come with minoxidil?

Should I use 8ml of minoxidil per application?

No, definitely not. The capacity is for convenience, not dosing. Use whatever your product's leaflet specifies, which is normally 1 ml.

Is it better than the 3ml?

Not better, just bigger. If you are treating a hairline or a small patch, buy the 3 ml — it costs less and does that job just as well.

Will it work with foam?

No. Foams are dispensed from their own can and applied by hand. This is for liquid lotions.

Can I leave lotion in it between uses?

No. Empty and rinse after each application, or you will end up with a clogged tip.
