No.5 or No.8 — which conditioner do you want?
They are easy to confuse. Both go on after shampooing and both rinse out. The difference is weight and frequency:
- No.5 is the everyday one. Three minutes, light finish, use it every wash.
- No.8 is the weekly one. Ten minutes, much richer, noticeably more moisture — and too heavy for fine hair to use every time.
Most people want No.5 for regular washes and No.8 once a week in its place. If you have fine hair and are choosing one, choose No.5.
What it will not do
It will not rebuild badly damaged hair. Nothing you rinse out after three minutes will. If your hair snaps when you brush it or stretches when wet, No.3 is the product that addresses that, and this is what stops the result washing away in between treatments.
Where it sits in the range
No.3 before washing, No.4 and No.5 during, No.6 or No.7 afterwards if you want a leave-in. The numbers are separate products for separate moments rather than a sequence to work through.
