Foligain Minoxidil Lotion 5% for Men - Sensitive Skin

One millilitre, twice a day, morning and evening.

1. Start with dry hair and a dry scalp.
2. Part your hair to expose the thinning area.
3. Fill the dropper to the 1 ml mark.
4. Apply onto the scalp itself, not onto the hair, across the whole area you are treating.
5. Spread evenly with a fingertip.
6. Wash your hands straight away.
7. Let it dry fully before bed or styling.

Use 1 ml twice a day whether the thinning area is small or large. More than 2 ml a day does not work faster.

If you are switching because of irritation:

• Let your scalp settle for a few days before starting this one. Applying anything to skin that is already inflamed will muddy the result.
• Start on a small area for the first week if you want to be cautious, then extend to the full area.
• Some flaking in the first days may be the old irritation clearing rather than a new reaction. Persistent redness or itching is not, and is worth a pharmacist's opinion.

The lotion is flammable while wet — keep it away from open flame until dry. For external use only. Adult men. Read the package leaflet before use.

Formulated for sensitive scalps. Propylene glycol is the carrier used in most minoxidil lotions and the single most common cause of scalp dryness, itching and flaking during treatment. Check the ingredient list on the bottle to confirm what this formulation contains before first use.

Will this work as well as the standard lotion?

Yes. Both contain 5% minoxidil, and minoxidil is what produces the result. What changes is the base it is carried in, which affects comfort rather than efficacy.

How do I know propylene glycol was my problem?

The usual pattern is irritation that starts within the first few weeks of any minoxidil lotion, affects the areas you applied to rather than the whole scalp, and does not respond to anti-dandruff shampoo. If that matches, a PG-free formulation is worth trying before you write off minoxidil.

Could I use a foam instead?

Yes, and it is a reasonable alternative — minoxidil foams also leave out propylene glycol. Choose on format: foams dry in minutes, lotions give an exactly measured dose and part through thick hair more easily.

I am still itchy on this one. What now?

Stop and speak to a pharmacist or doctor. Minoxidil itself can irritate some scalps, and there are other possible causes worth ruling out before you keep going.

How long until I see results?

First fine new hairs usually appear around months three to four, with visible density between months four and six. Switching formulation does not reset that clock if you have been using minoxidil continuously.

Is it safe, and are there side effects?

Minoxidil is an approved over-the-counter treatment and is safe when used as directed. Unwanted facial hair can result from transfer, which washing your hands prevents. The leaflet lists everything — with a heart condition, or any doubt, speak to your pharmacist or doctor first.
