A daily shampoo built to hold onto the work No.3 does. It is not a substitute for No.3 and will not repair badly damaged hair on its own — what it does is stop your normal shampoo undoing the treatment between uses.

Being honest about what a shampoo can do

This is a maintenance product. If your hair is snapping off and stretchy when wet, a shampoo is not going to fix that no matter what it costs — No.3 is the product for that, and this is what protects the result afterwards.

Where it earns its place is the thing most people overlook: a harsh sulphate shampoo can undo a weekly treatment within a couple of washes. Switching that one product out is usually a bigger difference than adding another treatment on top.

Who this is actually for

If you colour your hair, use heat regularly, or run No.3 treatments, this is the shampoo that stops you undoing that work between washes. If you do none of those things, an ordinary gentle shampoo will serve you just as well, and we would rather say so than take the sale.

Use it as your normal shampoo. There is no trick to this one.

Apply to wet hair.
Massage gently into the scalp and through the lengths.
Rinse thoroughly.
Repeat if your hair is particularly dirty or heavily product-laden.
Follow with No.5 conditioner, or No.8 mask if it is your weekly deep treatment.

Suitable for regular use, as often as you normally wash your hair.

Two practical notes:

Concentrate on the scalp. The lengths get cleaned by the shampoo rinsing through them, and scrubbing at them adds damage.
Because it is sulphate-free, the first wash after heavy styling product may not lather much. A second short wash sorts it.

For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes. Keep out of reach of children.

Will this repair my damaged hair on its own?

No. It maintains bonds rather than rebuilding them. For actual repair you need No.3. This stops your shampoo undoing that work between treatments.

Is it worth the price over a normal shampoo?

If you are using No.3 or colouring your hair, yes — a harsh sulphate shampoo can undo a weekly treatment in two washes. If you do neither, the case is much weaker and we would rather you knew that.

Can I use it every day?

Yes. It is formulated for regular use.

Is it safe for coloured hair?

Yes. It is sulphate-free and colour-safe, which is much of the point of it.

Why does it not lather much sometimes?

Sulphate-free shampoos lather less, especially over styling product build-up. A brief second wash usually resolves it.

Do I need No.5 as well?

Not necessarily, but they are designed as a pair. You can use No.4 with any conditioner, or swap in No.8 once a week for a deeper treatment.
