Kirkland Signature Minoxidil Lotion 5% for Men - 6 Month Supply

One millilitre, twice a day, for six months. Consistency beats everything else you could do.

1. Start on dry hair and a dry scalp.
2. Part your hair to expose the thinning area.
3. Fill the dropper to the 1 ml mark.
4. Apply onto the scalp itself, not the hair, across the whole treated area.
5. Spread evenly with a fingertip.
6. Wash your hands straight away.
7. Let it dry, two to four hours, before bed or styling.

Use 1 ml twice a day regardless of how large the thinning area is. More than 2 ml a day does not work faster.

Two things worth doing over a six-month run:

• Photograph the top of your head every four weeks, same spot, same light. Day-to-day change is invisible; month-to-month change is not.
• Open the next bottle before the current one is empty. A week's gap at month three costs more than it sounds like.

Propylene glycol is the carrier that takes minoxidil into the scalp, and the usual reason for the dry or itchy scalp some men notice early on. The foam versions do not contain it.

Is six months really necessary?

It is the window over which minoxidil is assessed. Results are typically visible between months four and six, so anything shorter means judging the treatment before it has finished making its case.

I am shedding more since starting. Is that bad?

It is expected, usually between weeks two and eight, and it is a sign of the hair cycle turning over rather than of damage. It settles without you doing anything.

Do the bottles expire before I use them all?

No. Every bottle carries an expiry date well beyond six months, so a six-month pack is used comfortably inside its shelf life. Store them at room temperature and away from direct sunlight.

What if I miss a few days?

Pick straight back up at 1 ml twice daily. Do not double up to compensate. Occasional misses are survivable; repeated multi-week gaps are what undo progress.

What happens when I stop?

Minoxidil maintains hair while you use it. Within a few months of stopping, hair returns to where it would have been untreated. Plan for it as an ongoing routine rather than a six-month course.

Is it safe, and what are the side effects?

It is an approved over-the-counter treatment and is safe used as directed. Scalp dryness, itching or irritation can occur, mostly early. Unwanted facial hair can happen if the lotion transfers — washing your hands prevents it. The leaflet lists everything; if you have a heart condition or any doubt, speak to your pharmacist or doctor first.
