What to expect

  • First washes: Many people notice less itching and fewer flakes within the first one or two washes.
  • 2–4 weeks: Flaking should be clearly under control. If not, speak to a pharmacist or doctor.
  • After 8 weeks: Switch to as-needed use. Most people keep an occasional maintenance wash.

  • Not a hair loss treatment: The label covers dandruff. Ketoconazole and hair has only small, old studies behind it, and we do not make the claim.
  • Minoxidil: the right order: Wash with Nizoral, rinse, let the scalp dry, then apply minoxidil to the dry scalp. The problem is washing after minoxidil, not before it.
  • It can feel drying: About half of the reviews that mention hydration mention dryness. Follow with your usual conditioner and do not wash more often than the label says. Colour changes are a rare listed side effect of ketoconazole shampoos, so we make no colour-safe claim.

Can I use it with minoxidil?
Yes, no interaction is known. Wash and dry the scalp first, then apply minoxidil to the dry scalp as usual.

Can I use my normal shampoo in between?
Yes. On the other days use your usual shampoo and conditioner.
