Being honest about who this is for

If you are not mixing colour or bleach yourself, this is not the Olaplex to buy — No.3 is. No.1 only does its work inside a chemical service, so without one there is nothing for it to protect against. Olaplex does publish a diluted standalone protocol for home use, but for anyone not colouring or lightening their own hair No.3 is the simpler and more suitable product, and we would rather say so than take the sale.

In the salon, No.1 is normally followed by No.2 Bond Perfector at the bowl after the service. We do not sell No.2 and are not bringing it back, so if you run the full two-step protocol you will need to source that step elsewhere. It is better you know that here than at the bowl.

Prepare your colour or lightener in the bowl exactly as you normally would.
Add No.1 to the mix at the amount given in Olaplex's professional instructions for that service, and stir it through until it is evenly combined.
Apply and process the colour or lightener as usual, then rinse.
Shampoo and condition as you normally would.

It is used once per service, as part of that service. It is not a weekly treatment, a leave-in or a conditioner, so there is no routine to build around it between appointments.
