The weekly deep-conditioning step. Ten minutes on clean, damp hair after shampooing, then rinse — and you use it instead of your conditioner that day, not in addition to it.
It is aimed at hair that has gone dry, dull and lifeless rather than hair that is snapping off. If your hair breaks and stretches when wet, that is a job for No.3; this is what puts moisture and shine back afterwards.

No.3, No.5 or No.8 — all three rinse out, so which is which?
This is the most confusing part of the range, and worth two minutes of your time:
- No.3 — before shampooing, on damp hair, 10 minutes. This is the repair treatment. If you buy one Olaplex product, buy this.
- No.5 — after shampooing, 3 minutes, every wash. This is your everyday conditioner.
- No.8 — after shampooing, 10 minutes, once a week, in place of No.5. This is the deep moisture treatment.
A typical week: No.3 before one wash, No.4 and No.5 for normal washes, and No.8 replacing No.5 once.
A note if your hair is fine
No.8 is rich, and on fine hair used too often it can leave things limp. Once a week on the mid-lengths and ends is plenty, and if that still feels heavy, stay with No.5 and use No.8 fortnightly instead.
