Regaine Minoxidil Foam 5% for Men - 9 Month Supply

Half a capful, twice a day, morning and evening.

1. Start with dry hair and a dry scalp.
2. Part your hair to expose the thinning area.
3. Dispense half a capful of foam onto your fingers. Run your hands under cold water first — the foam melts on warm skin before you can spread it.
4. Work it into the scalp itself, not into the lengths of your hair.
5. Spread evenly across the whole area you are treating.
6. Wash your hands straight away.
7. Let it dry, usually a few minutes, before styling.

Half a capful twice daily is the full dose whether the thinning area is small or large. Using more does not produce faster results.

Two things that make the foam easier:

• Cold fingers. It is the single most common complaint about foam and the fix takes five seconds.
• Leave around four hours before washing your hair, so the dose is not rinsed away.

There is no propylene glycol in the foam. That is the ingredient in minoxidil lotions most often responsible for scalp dryness, itching and flaking, and its absence is the main practical reason to choose foam over lotion.

Formulations are occasionally updated by the manufacturer, so check the ingredient list on the packaging you receive.

Is the foam more effective than the lotion?

No. Both are 5% minoxidil and both are clinically proven. The foam is easier to live with — it dries faster and leaves out propylene glycol — which matters mainly because the treatment only works if you keep using it.

How long until I see results?

First fine new hairs usually appear around months three to four, with visible density between months four and six. Judge it at six months.

My hair is shedding more since I started. Should I stop?

No. Extra shedding between weeks two and eight is expected and is a sign the hair cycle is turning over. It settles on its own, and this is the point at which most people give up on a treatment that was working.

The foam melts before I can apply it.

Your hands are too warm. Run them under cold water and dry them before dispensing, or hold the can against a cold surface for a moment first.

What happens if I stop?

Minoxidil maintains your hair while you use it. Within a few months of stopping, hair returns to where it would have been untreated. It is an ongoing routine rather than a course of treatment.

Is it safe, and are there side effects?

Minoxidil is an approved over-the-counter treatment and is safe when used as directed. Scalp irritation and itching can occur, though less often with foam than with lotion. Unwanted facial hair can result from transfer, which washing your hands prevents. The leaflet lists everything — if you have a heart condition, or any doubt, speak to your pharmacist or doctor first.
